Girdleld tree Knawed tree
If you walk the Creekside Trail from the clubhouse, as you approach the sharp stream meander near the small island, this is the first major tree damage you encounter. This ash tree is at least 10" in diameter, and is completely girdled. The loss of this tree will undoubtedly result in greater erosion of the bank and loss of this section of the trail in years to come. Further along, this large tree has not been completely girdled. (yet), but there has been serious gnawing of bark. Several smaller trees nearby have been cut down, one of which can be seen at the left.
     Knawed clump
This clump of trees has been extensively gnawed, and the smaller trees cut completely down.
Tree cut down Close-up of knawing
This tree was cut down and almost all of the bark on the portion of the trunk on the bank has been gnawed off for food. This is a closer view the same tree as the photo to the left, showing more details.

The beaver damage extends on the other side of the creek as well. This large tree has been gnawed most, it not all the way around. Other trees were observed on the far side as well. Note: These pictures were all taken late in the day, hence the grain and washed out colors.
